Week One
In this first week of Phase 2, children will learn to say and recognise the sounds: s, a t and p. They will even have a go at informally writing some of the letters for the first time.
Children will be introduced to letters (graphemes) and sounds (phonemes), but all the work done in Phase 1 will have laid a great foundation to start this exciting new area of learning. This phase 2 phonics planning is aligned with the order of teaching in the Letters and Sounds framework, and is packed full of easy to prepare teaching input and phase 2 phonics resources to help children make progress.
Our online phase 2 phonics games will be a useful accompaniment to this week’s learning. Why not try Dino Dinner, Unicorn Magic or Fire Rescue Dog to practise this week’s sounds. You can also use the phase 2 phonics consolidation booklet which is included in the accompanying resource folder.
